I think it was a necessary thing. They had to do something with the Overbay/Fielder situation at first and this clears that up.
As the article mentions, it does free up some cash too.
The unfortunate part is that they didn't get the deal done with Boston. I could have watched 1 of every 5 Brewers games if Arroyo (on Monica's "hottest baseball player" list) were pitching for us!
