Up to Date.

I downloaded the pictures from my camera tonight, and I realized I have a little catching up to do.

A few weeks ago, Mike, Claire and I took a canoe trip in the Scarborough Marsh. A few days later, Claire hosted an Olympic Party. Then we went to the airport where Claire did some interpretive dancing. We got on an airplane and started our two week Wisconsin Vacation. The beach house and camping portions of the WI trip are over and we had a blast doing both. Just like the first part of our trip, the rest of the days will be nice and relaxing. I have quite a few pictures. Here are a few of my favorites, and the rest can be found in this Picasa Album.

A Regional Thing?

I was listening to an AM radio station yesterday, and there was a discussion about screening callers to make sure weirdies don't get on-air. One of the hosts was telling a story about a time that his call to somewhere was screened, and the question they asked was "What are four of the five Great Lakes?" All of the hosts (three of them) went nuts. I had to listen for a bit, because I didn't know if they were all up in arms that the question was too easy or too difficult. I quickly found out they thought it was ridiculously difficult. They were comparing the question to something from the SAT or Jeopardy. They weren't even sure there were five Great Lakes, and even discussed the possibility that the screen was that if you DID know four of the five lakes that you were (obviously) a weirdie, and thus not allowed to talk on-air.

I thought this was hilarious at first. Of course people know what the five Great Lakes are. But maybe its just Midwest or Great Lakes Region knowledge. Or maybe only people from Wisconsin or Michigan think this is an easy question. Maybe the radio hosts were right, and I'm the weirdie! So, with most of the people who read the blog being Midwesterners, do you know the five Great Lakes?

Wow! What a lack of posts!

Its been almost a month! We've been having a great time. Jim was in town for a few days and then Claire and I were in Wisconsin for about ten days. We got to spend time in Green Bay, Sun Prairie and Waukesha. We started out in Green Bay. I mostly relaxed, but Claire worked. She helped mow the lawn and tried to teach my mom how to play computer games.

We visited Elissa, Jalyn and Mason for lunch one day.

And then we spent Halloween and a few days after in Sun Prairie. Claire stuck with her first decision and went as a doctor, but she didn't want anything to do with the doctor pants (been reading Eric's blog, maybe?). Halloween night was cold enough that when all was said and done, you couldn't even tell she had a costume on. She got a good amount of candy, but in the end she just wanted to help Bapa hand out candy to the other trick-or-treaters, which lasted until the first monster rang the doorbell.

It was really great to see everyone and good to be home. And now that the trip is over, its also good to be home. There are of course more pictures on Flickr, if you are interested.
